Lake Niepruszewskie — facts
A post-glacial ribbon lake in the Warta basin, in the municipalities of Dopiewo and Buk (Poznań County, Greater Poland Voivodeship), about 7 km east of Buk. Fed and drained by the Samica Stęszewska river.

Why we act
The lake’s catchment covers about 50 km², with arable land accounting for 68.4 % of its area and forest for only some 12 %. This favours nitrogen and phosphorus runoff and progressive eutrophication. The lake is also shallow (mean depth about 3 m) and does not stratify, so wind mixes the whole water column together with the bottom sediments, returning phosphorus to the water. In August 2022 an oxygen-depletion event caused a mass fish die-off. That is why we focus on water monitoring, catchment protection and education.
